SKY NEWS MULTI-PLATFORM COVERAGE OF WORLD CUP
7 June 2010
[tx: From Friday 11 June]

Sky News' multi-platform coverage of Africas first World Cup kicks off in earnest on Friday 11 June with the first of four daily special World Cup Reports.

The reports, presented from South Africa by Chris Skudder and broadcast at 0830, 1230, 1830 and 2230, will feature interviews with the players and managers, politicians, Fifa bosses, sporting legends, organising officials, as well as celebrity followers and Wags.

Sky News Presenter and former Sky News Africa bureau chief, Jeremy Thompson, returns to South Africa to anchor live from Johannesburg’s Soccer City and the England training camp at Rustenburg for the opening stages of the tournament this Thursday (10 June) through to England's opening match against the USA on Saturday (12 June).

Chris Skudder and Ian Dovaston will be covering all the news from the England training camp and reporting from every England press conference live, bringing all the team news, plus live interviews and analysis.

Africa Correspondent Emma Hurd from Johannesburg, and news correspondent David Bowden in Cape Town, will report on the fans and all the breaking news of the World Cup, as well as the visit of the Princes William and Harry and football fever sweeping young black South Africans in the Townships.

In addition, Sky News journalism will delve beneath the glossy tourist images to look at issues of prostitution, HIV, crime and violence - and whether the tournament could provide a real legacy for South Africa in what is the first ever African World Cup

John DiPaolo will report for www.skynews.com Twitter and Facebook, providing team news and interviews, and Sky News online will encourage fans to send in their own picture and video to illustrate their World Cup experience.

Lee Stott will report for Sky News Radio, which provides national and international news to all UK commercial radio stations.

In addition, Simon Vigar will report for Five News, which is produced by Sky News.
